He was born June 29, 1935, in Canton, the son of George and Alice Jeffrey Deary. He married Shirley Wilson on Jan. 17, 1952, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Cheryl (and Steve) Rees of Washington, Ill., Kathy (and Randy) Gunderson of Minooka and Pam (and Jeff) Ostheim of Shorewood; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jacob Rees and Rebecca Rees.
He worked at Caterpillar for 32 years, retiring in 1984. He also owned and operated Vermont Bowl and Spare Room.
A private service was held. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
