Elgin C. Dean, 88, of Astoria died at 9:32 a.m. Jan. 4, 2014, at his home.
He was born May 26, 1925, in Astoria, a son of Floyd C. and Dorothy Marie Elgin Dean.
Surviving are two nephews, Stephen (and Carol) Dean and Scott (and Brenda) Dean, both of Astoria; two nieces, Kay (and Harley Joe) Curless of Havana and Kathy (and Robert) Bridges of Astoria; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, William Dean; one sister, Louise Mummert; one niece, Deanna Dean; and one nephew, David Mummert.
He farmed in the Astoria area with his father and brother.
He was a member of Astoria United Methodist Church and Astoria Lions Club. He bowled in Vermont Bowl leagues.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery.
