James DaintyJames W. Dainty, 90, of Lewistown, formerly of Astoria died at 7:21 p.m. Feb. 24, 2013, at Sunset Manor in Canton.

He was born Dec. 13, 1922, in Joshua Township, Fulton County, a son of Chester O. and Stella Oldfield Dainty. He married Marjorie L. Mustread. She preceded him in death in 1966. He later married Mary Brasmer in 1970. They later divorced.

He also was preceded in death by one infant son, two brothers and one grandson.

Surviving are nine children, Jim (and Patty) Dainty of Lewistown, Donald Dainty of LaHarpe, Debra Sharp of Cuba, Bonnie (and John) Oatman of Fairview, Barbara Bramhall of Andalusia, Lonnie Dainty of North Carolina, Connie (and Bill) Searl of Geneseo, Betty Dainty of Rock Island and Marvin Nall of Davenport, Iowa; two brothers, David (and Ruth Ann) Dainty of Havana and Larry Dainty of Peoria; one sister, Jean Moore of Canton; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He farmed in Fulton County and also worked construction for 50 years.

He was a World War II Army veteran serving in the 331st Air Base Squadron.

He was a 44-year member of Cuba American Legion Russell Smith Post 533 and a member of Laborers Local 231.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Reverend Larry Wright officiating. Burial will be in Waterford Cemetery in rural Lewistown with a military service conducted by his American Legion Post. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the memorial home.
