Phyllis DehartPhyllis Jean DeHart, 63, of Rushville died at 4:23 p.m. Oct. 22, 2010, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born Feb. 14, 1947, in Pittsfield, a daughter of Clarence and Virginia Roberts Kesterson. She married Darrel DeHart on July 3, 1965, in Pittsfield.

Surviving are four daughters, Paula (and Tim) Noland of Virginia, Pam (and Chris) Clayton of Rushville, Debbie (and Steve) Wallace of Greenview and Kelly (and John) Bartlow of Wichita, Kan.; one sister, Carlene (and Phil) Petty of Springfield; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Jordan Christopher Clayton; and her step mother, Mike Kesterson.

A 1965 graduate of Griggsville High School, she was salutatorian of her class.

She first worked for many years as a cook and baker at Kozy Korner. Later, she worked in the housekeeping department at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville for 11 years, retiring in 2009. She received her certified nurses aide degree from Lincoln Land Community College.

She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Rushville.

Services were held Tuesday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. John Sowers officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
