Roy DeppermanRoy A. Deppermann, 87, of Astoria died at 2:20 a.m. April 12, 2008, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Canton.

He was born Nov. 29, 1920, in Glasford, a son of George and Alma Slone Deppermann. He married Bette Jean Sill on July 12, 1945, in Easton. She died Dec. 22, 2003.

He also was preceded in death by one brother, Donald.

Surviving are one daughter, Karen (and Edward) McDivitt of Astoria; two brothers, Dale (and Helen) Deppermann of Glasford and Ralph Deppermann of Hanna City; and one sister, Wanda Schuman of Bartonville.

He was an electrical supervisor at Illinois Power for many years.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1947, as an Electrician’s Mate First Class.

He was a member of Woodland Church of the Brethren, Vermont Masonic Lodge #116 AF & AM, Astoria American Legion Post #25, and Illinois Shriners Ansar Temple Valley of Springfield.

Services were held Tuesday at his church with Gary Sheets officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.

Memorial may given to his church.
