Harry I. Davis, 73, of East Galesburg died Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

He was born Sept. 10, 1930, in Alton, the son of Harry R. and Margaret Carlile Davis. He married Carol Ann Poppenhager of Astoria in July 1960. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Nancy (and Dilraj) Sidhu of Milwaukee, Wis.; and one sister, Janet Mauser of Highland.

A member of the VFW and American Legion, he was a Marine veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge.

He graduated from Southern Illinois University, received a masters degree at Bradley University and continued his education at Western Illinois University.

He was a teacher, assistant principal and principal for over 34 years at Galesburg School District #205. He also worked part-time at Sears for 20 years.

Cremation will be accorded. The family will hold a private ceremony.

Memorials may be made to the Churchill Junior High School special education department in Galesburg or to any charity of the donor's choice.
