Samuel DouglasSamuel DouglasSamuel T. "Tommy" Douglas, 86, of Astoria died at 3:55 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at the Swedish-American Hospital in Rockford.
He was born May 5, 1916, in Bernadotte Township, Fulton County, a son of Glenn and Mae Smith Douglas. He married Faye Stella Schuman on May 17, 1941, in Farmington. She died May 21, 1994.
He also was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Surviving are one son, M. Mike (and Kay) of Rockford; one brother, Allen (and Charlotte) of Rolling Meadows; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
A member of the Buick Salesmaster Club, he was an automobile salesman for over 40 years, retiring in 1982.
Services were held Tuesday at Astoria Church of the Brethren with Pastor Gary Schultz officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home was in charge of arrangements.
