Margaret Ruth Dean, 92, of Addison died at 1:45 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2000, at Mason District Hospital in Havana.
She was born March 26, 1908, in Wheaton, a daughter of Martin and Beda Sandburg Schmidt. She married Fred Vernon Dean on Nov. 25, 1926, in Chicago. He died April 20, 1976.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Allan; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; two sisters; and two brothers.
Surviving are one son, Rev. Vernon (and Edna) Dean of Astoria; one daughter, Susan (and Gregory) Zalewski of Addison; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was a bookkeeper and for 27 years was payroll supervisor for Mt. Sinai Hospital in Chicago, retiring in 1978.
She was a member of York Center Church of the Brethren in Lombard.
Services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at her church with Rev. Christy Watersdorf officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday and Thursday from 2-9 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 South Spring Road in Elmhurst. Burial will be in Glen Oak Cemetery in Hillside. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
A local memorial service will be held at a later date at the Woodland Church of the Brethren.
