DON A. DAVID

Don A. David, 73, of Rushville, died at 5:45 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 1997, at the Danville Veterans Administration Medical Center.

He was born June 27, 1923, in Ray, a son of Carl J. and Alta M. Woodruff David. He married Mary Jo Walker March 3, 1956, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Kay Fair and Carolyne Ashcraft, both of Rushville; one son, Mike Howard, serving in the U.S. Navy at Virginia Beach, Va.; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Audrey Wilson and Nedra Bankes, both of Rushville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Gary David, one grandson, Ricky Ashcraft, one brother, Clyde David, one infant brother, Veryle, and one infant sister, Iva May.

An Army veteran of WW II, he worked for Oscar Mayer Co. in Beardstown before retiring. He was a member of Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and Union Local #431.

Graveside services were held Monday at the Rushville City Cemetery with Rev. Robert Belew officiating. Military services were conducted at the graveside by Schuyler American Legion Post #4.

Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
