Charles Wm. Day, 20, Killed In Auto Crash

Charles William Day, 20, was killed in an auto crash near Morton early Sunday morning. Two other youths were killed and one seriously injured in the crash. The driver apparently lost control of the car after hitting a culvert. The auto traveled through the air about 92 feet before hitting the ground and landing on its side in a field along the roadside.

Charles was born in Peoria on May 21, 1940, a son of William H. and Nelda Merrill Day. At the time of the accident, he was home on a visit from Drake University where he was a pre-medical student. He was a 1958 graduate of Morton Township High School.

He is survived by his parents and one sister, Miss Judith Ann, at home, his paternal grandmother, Mrs. William H. Day of Galesburg; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Merrill of Astoria.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Morton Methodist church with burial in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

The other youths killed in the crash were James Waskowski, 19, of Pekin, and Harm Johnson, Jr., of Morton. Seriously injured was Alan Rassi, 20, of Morton.
