Former Bluff City Woman Passes Away

Mrs. Jane Dixon Dies Following Stroke; Funeral Held Saturday

Mrs. Jane Dixon of Rushville, died Wednesday afternoon at the Culbertson hospital in that city, where she had been a patient eight weeks following a stroke.

Mrs. Dixon was born in Woodland township, Fulton county, April 10, 1872, a daughter of L. D. and Hester O’Donnell Curless.

On December 25, 1892, she was united in marriage to Stewart Dixon, who preceded her in death 25 years ago. She was associated with her husband in a general merchandise business which they established in 1911, in connection with the post office in Bluff City. After the death of her husband in 1925, she continued to operate that business and succeeded him in the appointment as postmaster, retiring in 1943, at which time she moved to Rushville to make her home.

In 1947 she was united with the First Methodist church in Rushville and since that time has been an active member of the Faithful Workers class and of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Minnie Mason of Monmouth, and a brother, Charles Curless of Bluff City.

The remains were brought to the Horton funeral home where arrangements were made for the funeral, which was held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Bluff City church conducted by Rev. Joseph Mason, pastor of the Methodist church in Rushville. Burial in Bluff City cemetery.
