George Wesley Derry Buried In Ipava

George Wesley Derry, 81, died Tuesday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edna Codling, Ipava.

Mr. Derry was born July 12, 1866 near Astoria, a son of Jacob and Rachel Clark Derry. He was married on Feb. 20, 1887 in Ipava to Miss Laura E. Vaughn, who preceded him in death July 28, 1923.

Surviving are the two children, Mrs. Codling and Leonard Derry, a grandson, Kenneth Derry, all of Ipava; four sisters, Mrs. Lillian Brown, Vermont, Mrs. Ollie Van Syckle, Yale, Iowa, Mrs. Alice Sowers, Ipava, and Mrs. Nellie Samuels, Linden, Iowa, and a brother, J. A. Derry of Perry, Iowa.

The early part of Mr. Derry’s life was spent in Astoria township, moving to the Ipava community about 31 years ago.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Ipava Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Edward Ferguson. Burial in Ipava cemetery.
