He was born Sept. 9, 1930, in Virginia, a son of Harry H. and Marie Gilpin Coufal. He married Evelyn Lucille Eads on Nov. 19, 1950, in Kane. She preceded him in death on Oct. 11, 1994.
He also was preceded in death by one son, Donald Coufal; and one granddaughter, Terrilyn.
Surviving are three sons, David (and Debbie) Coufal of Browning, Mike (and Marjorie) Coufal of Woodson and Marc (and Penny) Coufal of Lewistown; one brother, Gayle (and Virginia) Coufal of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Virginia High School and employed over 40 years by CIPS, before retiring. He was a member of Beardstown United Methodist Church, where he was active in the Methodist Men’s Club.
A private graveside service was held Saturday at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown was in charge of arrangements.
