Jacob CroneJacob Verne Crone, 90, of Rushville died at 12:19 p.m. Jan. 18, 2018, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

He was born Aug. 29, 1927, in Rushville, a son of Dwight L. and Mabel Naught Crone. He married Faye Stroops on June 10, 1956, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Colleen Crone of Quincy; two nephews, Garth Cripe of Astoria and Brian Cripe of Forsyth; three nieces, Leslie Maniscalco of Glendale, Ariz., Marci Wallace of Nebraska and Myra Morrison of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and one cousin, Louise Shanklin of Bushnell.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Maurine Cripe; and one brother, Dale Crone.

He was a life-long farmer and lived on the family farm for most of his life. He drove a school bus for Schuyler Community Unit District #1 for almost 50 years. He served as Woodstock Township Clerk for many years.

He was a member of Rushville First United Methodist Church and Schuyler Farm Bureau. He was active in 4-H as a youth. He helped with the Schuyler County Food Basket Program. He served on the Schuyler County Extension, 4-H and Youth councils. He was sheep superintendent at Schuyler County Fair for many years.

Funeral services were held Monday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Grant Armstrong officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
