Bonnie CaulkinsBonnie Jean Caulkins, 75, of Lewistown died at 1:35 a.m. April 15, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born Sept. 2, 1941, in rural Ipava, a daughter of Floyd “Penny” and Rosella Daniels Melvin. She married Adrian D. Caulkins on Aug. 15, 1960, in Lewistown. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2016.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Surviving are four children, Keenan (and Jackie) Caulkins, Adrina (and Ed) Brewer, Malina (and Larry) Lehman and Travis (and Treva) Caulkins, all of Lewistown; 12 siblings, Ethel (and DeWayne) Johnson, Nancy (and Larry) Coon, Shirley Taylor, Marilyn (and Dale) Henderson, Floyd (and Becky) Melvin, Jim (and Debbie) Melvin, Penny (and Jim) Stambaugh, Mary (and George) O’Connell, Rosie West, Bertha (and Chuck) Sneyd, Ron (and Steve Phillips) Melvin and Pauline Mahan; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was a tutor for Spoon River College Literacy Program and a volunteer at Graham Hospital and for Graham Hospice.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lewistown and also attended Grace Baptist Church in Havana on a regular basis.

After the premature death of her mother, she and her husband helped raise nine of her siblings.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Lewistown with Pastors Eric Sawyer and Matt Reeves officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown was in charge of arrangements.
