Dwight Chapman

Dwight ChapmanDwight F. Chapman, 98, of Rolla, Mo., formerly of Camden, died at 11:38 p.m. Aug. 25, 2015, at the Silverstone Place Skilled Nursing Facility in Rolla.

He was born July 26, 1917, in Camden, a son of Bert and Ethel Shelts Chapman. He married Marjorie I. Cady on June 2, 1944, in Camden. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2010.

He also was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.

Surviving are one son, Dennis (and JoAnn) Chapman of Rolla; two sisters, Bernice Chapman of Moline and Reba Walker of Greendale, Wis., two step grandsons; and eight step great-grandchildren.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Missouri Gravel Company and the Archie Green Coal Company, both near Camden. He later worked for Elas Quarries and Orson Unger. In 1999, he and his wife moved to Rolla to live with his son and daughter-in-law. He was instrumental in helping his son with his farm and cattle operation.

He attended Camden United Methodist Church. While in Rolla, he attended First Baptist Church.

Graveside services were held Saturday at Rushville City Cemetery with Reverend Dixie Croxton officiating. Burial followed. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
