Raymond CollinsRaymond L. "Bud" Collins, 91, of Lewistown, formerly of Little America, died at 10:16 a.m. Nov. 11, 2011, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Canton.

He was born Nov. 8, 1920, in Fulton County, a son of Elmer and Della Barker Collins. He married Ruth L. Whitehead on April 23, 1938, in Keokuk, Iowa. She preceded him in death on March 27, 2008.

He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Rochelle Miller on April 29, 2005; three brothers, Clarence, Kay and Jack Collins; and one sister, Helen Herman.

Surviving are one son, Rick (and Connie) Collins of Lewistown; one daughter, Rosalind (and Burton) Cooper of Brownsburg, Ind.; one brother, Glen Collins of Bethalto; one sister, Pauline Handegon of Morton; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was a World War II Army veteran serving in the Pacific.

He was employed for 43 years at Consolidated Coal Company and had worked seven years as supervisor at Consolidated Coal Dock in Liverpool.

He was a past president of Local 7110. He was a life member of Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and an all-state team post commander; life member of Lewistown American Legion Post 1 where he served as past commander and a member of the firing squad for many years; Moose Lodge 784 in Canton; a past officer of Eagles Club in Canton; Fulton County Farm Bureau; Alligator Club; and served for six years as president of Liverpool School Board.

Services were held Tuesday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Reverend Danie deBeer officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by his VFW and American Legion posts.
