Cathy Cox, 47, of Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Canton, formerly of Lewistown, died at 8:42 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at the home.
She was born June 15, 1950, in Champaign, a daughter of Carl and Virginia Butler McCausland. She married Matthew Cox.
Surviving are her parents of Lewistown; one daughter, Jana Cox of Peoria; two sisters, Mary Ann Mills of Galesburg and Martha Thompson of East Peoria; and her grandmothers, Greeta Butler of Astoria and Ethel Freeman of Jacksonville.
A graduate of Spoon River College, she attended Western Illinois University and the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. She formerly worked at the University of Nevada. She also was a tutor and a playwright. She was a former member of the Lewistown United Methodist Church where she had served as an organist.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Henry Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rev. Jon Sims officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Illinois Branch; or to Sunset Manor Nursing Home.
