ROBERTA JUEQUES (CAMPBELL) BURNETT CLOTHIER

Roberta Clothier

Roberta Jueques Clothier, 84, of Astoria, died at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, at her daughter’s home in Astoria.

She was born in Lucas County, Iowa, on April 28, 1912, a daughter of Robert and Maude Brooks Campbell. She married L. Scott Clothier on Nov. 18, 1949 in Kahoka, Mo. He died Nov. 25, 1993. Her parents, one son, William Richard Burnett and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Burnett of Astoria; one son, Robert Burnett of Burlington, Iowa; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Chariton High School, Chariton Junior College and Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She was a school teacher at Excelsior Country School, rural Burlington and Danville School, Danville, Iowa, retiring in 1974. She was a foreman at I.A.A.P. on the detonator line. She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and A.A.R.P.

Funeral services were held this morning at Lunning Chapel in Burlington with Rev. David Mixon officiating. Burial was in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa.
