George S. “Frenie” Courtney, 90, of Canton, died at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 1996, at Graham Hospital.
He was born July 29, 1905, in Banner Township, a son of Richard and Alice Harper Courtney.
Surviving are one sister, Hallie Newlun of Astoria; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
He worked for the state highway department and was the caretaker of Walnut and Banner cemeteries in Banner Township. He was a member of the Red Nost Duck Hunting Club near Banner.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home with Rev. Jim Jenkins officiating. Burial was in Walnut Cemetery in Banner.
