HENRY MONROE COX

H. Monroe Cox, 100, of Vermont, died at 10:40 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 1995, at the Astoria Healthcare Center.

He was born June 29, 1895 in Vermont, a son of William Travis and Laura Belle Crail Cox. He married Dessie M. Chenoweth June 10, 1925. She died Jan. 20, 1978. One brother, Claire, also preceded him in death.

He is survived by one son, Travis H. Cox of Vermont; three grandchildren, Kenneth L. Cox of Arenzville, Marcella K. Felker of Gurnee, and Sandra M. Riddle of Middleville, Mich.; six great-grandchildren; and one nephew.

He was a World War I veteran and a charter member of the Vermont American Legion. He was also a member of the Vermont Christian Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at his church with Rev. Clint Palmer officiating. Military rites were accorded by the Vermont American Legion. Burial was in the Vermont Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Vermont Christian Church.
