Mrs. Verna S. Curless, 86, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of East Peoria, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1981, at Sacramento.
Born Oct. 26, 1894, in Astoria, she was the daughter of Charles and Olivia Ratcliff Shawgo.
She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are three sons, Lester of Orange Park, Fla., Perry of Spring Bay and Bernard of Metamora; two daughters, Mrs. G. I. (Mary) Genseal of Sacramento, with whom she lived, and Mrs. Alice Rose of East Peoria; two brothers, Elmer Shawgo of East Peoria and Earl Shawgo of Havana; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at LeRoy Schmidt Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tom Condron officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Astoria.
