Claude Clary, Sr. Of Lewistown Dies

A retired farmer, Claude Clary Sr., 90, of rural Lewistown, died at 3:23 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 1980, in Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born June 10, 1890, in Liverpool Township, a son of George W. and Anna (McGlasson) Clary. He first married Lulu Crosthwaite in 1911, at Bryant, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 10, 1965. He later married Pearl Hezlep Feb. 19, 1967, in Canton.

She survives, along with one son, Claude Clary Jr. of rural Lewistown; one daughter, Mrs. Varda Smith of Silvis; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Survivors also include a stepson, Rob Hezlep of Spring Bay; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Phyllis Savoia of St. David and Mrs. Sherrill Haare of Astoria; seven step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

An infant daughter, two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Clary was a member of the Lewistown Free Methodist church, where services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with Rev. James Heaney officiating. Burial was in Apple Cemetery near Lewistown.
