Carl E. Chambers Of Smithfield Dies

Carl E. Chambers, 78, of rural Smithfield died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 1980, at McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.

He was a retired farmer and a former county highway employee.

Born Oct. 29, 1901, in Bernadotte Township, he was a son of Frank E. and Alta Emma Wheeler Chambers. He married Myrtle Rauch Nov. 20, 1921, in Table Grove.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Vera) Turner of Smithfield and Mrs. Kenneth (Marjorie) Stevens of Good Hope; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Howard Chambers of Smithfield.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Brock United Methodist Church in Smithfield with Rev. Ronald E. Brock officiating. Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery.

Visitation will be this afternoon and evening at the Shawgo Memorial Home, Ipava.
