VeteranG. Ernest Crayton Dies At Bowen

George Ernest Crayton, 78, of Bowen died Sunday at his home.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Cookson and Sons Funeral Home in Augusta. Burial will be in Provine Chapel Cemetery at Fairview, Ill.

He was born April 16, 1891, at Trenton, Mo., a son of Don Henry and Clara Belle Mass Crayton. He was educated in the Trenton schools. On Aug. 4, 1924, he married Audella Miller at Lewistown. She survives.

He was a World War I veteran and a member of the Methodist Church and the American Legion. Mr. Crayton was a retired carpenter.

In addition to his widow he is survived by four children, Mrs. Clara Wetzel of Rockford, Mrs. Audella Brown of Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Alta Reed of Oregon and Mrs. Georgia Carper of Lake View, Mich.; one son, James Crayton of Burlington, Wis.; one brother, Edgar Crayton of Canton; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were one daughter, Mary Elizabeth; one son, George Earnest Jr.; one brother, Curtis Crayton; and two sisters, Mrs. Winifred McFarland and Mrs. Mildred Sutter.

The Craytons formerly resided in Astoria.
