Lenore BoydLenore Boyd, 97, of Rushville, formerly of Browning, died at 5:39 p.m. Feb. 15, 2023, at Rushville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Sept. 17, 1925, in Auburn, a daughter of Frank and Marie Domescik Kerska. She married Guy W. Boyd on Jan. 12, 1948, in Virginia. He preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1998.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Sergeant John C. Kerska Sr. (MIA in Korean War, Nov. 5, 1951) and Francis Kerska; two sisters, Theresa Kerska and Betty Kerska Boyd Cassel; and one grandchild, Jack “Buster” Kiesgen.

Surviving are two daughters, Charlotte (and Bobby) Thompson of Havana and Donna Jean Boyd of Rushville; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; two step grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.

She began her work career as a waitress in Rushville. She was then a nurse’s aide at Culbertson Memorial Hospital for two years, a teacher’s aide at the Browning Grade School for two years and was a rural mail carrier at Browning Post Office for 11 years before retiring in 1987.

She and her sister Betty married brothers Guy and Otis Boyd. They started Boyd Brothers Grocery Store where they all worked together.

She was a member of Browning United Methodist Church. She was a member of the volunteer group that served monthly catfish dinners to help support the Browning Fire Department.

She helped with organizing and putting on the Quackscam Festival. She served on the Browning Village Board where she served two terms.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Browning Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
