Jason Briney

Jason BrineyJason E. Briney, 58, of rural Browning died at 11:42 p.m. June 12, 2021, as the result of an auto accident in rural Browning.

He was born Feb. 14, 1963, in Beardstown, a son of Stanley and Betty Belville Briney. He married Deanna Jones on Oct. 30, 1981, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother Betty Briney of Browning; three children, Nathan (and Stacey) Briney of Rushville, Kim Briney of Browning and Dawn (and Tyler) Koch of Mount Sterling; three siblings, Cindy Welker of Havana, Orion Briney of Browning and Penny Briney of Rushville; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Stanley Briney; and one sister, Tammy Bent.

He was a 1981 graduate of Rushville High School. He worked as a labor foreman for over 25 years at River City Construction in Peoria, retiring in March, 2021. He followed in his father and brother’s footsteps and was a commercial fisherman since he was a small child.

He was a member of the Laborers Local #165. He donated and volunteered to cook fish for many fundraisers.

A Celebration of Life Fish Fry will be held at a later date to be announced. Inurnment will be at the Sheldons Grove Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to his wife Deanna. The Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
