Goldie BurlingameGoldie Joan Burlingame, 86, of Ipava died at 12:40 a.m. May 30, 2021, at Courtyard Estates in Monmouth.

She was born Oct. 2, 1934, in Hartsburg, a daughter of John and Goldie Eeten Aper. She married Gerald Duane Burlingame on July 11, 1952, in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 2015.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Duane Burlingame; three brothers, Harold Kutz, John Aper and Darrell Aper; and two sisters, Johaan Butler and Mary Lou Wibben.

Surviving are five daughters, Susan Behrends of Tremont, Karen (and Jeff) Abernathy of Lewistown, Lois (and Bill) Farquhar of Blandinsville, Emily (and Larry) Mustread of Bowling Green, Ky., and Carol (and Jeff) Hillyer of Table Grove; one son, Charles Burlingame of Ipava; two sisters, Anna Weston and Eileen (and Ron) Hubbard, both of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was a head cook at VIT Schools for 34 years, retiring in 2009. She also helped her husband on the family farm.

She was a graduate of Hartsburg-Emden High School. She attended Berean Christian Church in Ipava.

Services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Matthew Thiner officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Cremation rites will be accorded following the service with inurnment in the Ipava Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate in Peoria.
