Karen E. Beghtol, 77, of Rushville died at 9:50 a.m. May 2, 2021, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
She was born Sept. 15, 1944, in Bainbridge Township in Frederick, on the family farm, a daughter of Sam and Pansy Downs Gust. She married Steven Beghtol on June 7, 1964. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Angie (and Scott) Prather of Rushville; one sister, Connie Jo Shaw of Frederick; two grandchildren, Jared Prather of Camden and Maggie (and Tyler) Nelson of Warsaw; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Wheelhouse and Patsy Logsdon.
She graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1962. She attended Brown’s Business College graduating in 1964. She was employed by the State of Illinois Department of Revenue as a supervisor until the birth of her daughter. She then took on the roll as a stay at home mom. She also helped her husband with running The Emporium Shoe Store in Rushville. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
