Larry BelvilleLarry George Belville, 81, of Beardstown died April 25, 2020, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born May 6, 1938, in Browning, a son of Perry “Tater” Carlyle and Christine Harris Belville. He married Pauline Scott on Aug. 27, 1960, in Clinton, Okla. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Frank Shinall of Rushville, Greg “Bubba” Belville and Michelle (and Brad) Fox, both of Beardstown, Tony Belville of Edinburg, Patrick Belville of Detroit, Mich., and Missy (and Chris) Smith of Chapin; two brothers, Robert (and Vicki) Belville of Rushville and Dennis (and Mary) Belville of Astoria; two sisters, Sandra Jockisch of Vermont and Carolyn Barrett of Jacksonville; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Jackie Belville; and three sisters, Delores Jones, Janet Belville and Jerris “Jody” Danner.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy where he served on the USS Orion based out of Norfolk. Following his service to his country, he worked for Tillitt’s Auto Dealership and Oscar Mayer, both in Beardstown, before finally starting his own auto repair and towing business. He owned and operated Belville’s Garage in Beardstown for over 40 years.

He attended Gospel Tabernacle Church in Meredosia.

Due to the current pandemic, a private graveside service will be held at Beardstown City Cemetery with military honors given by Guthrie-Pierce VFW Post 1239. Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown was in charge of arrangements.
