H. Robert Briney

H. Robert BrineyRobert Briney, 64, of Moberly, Mo., died April 7, 2019, at home.

He was born Aug. 9, 1954, in Beardstown, a son of Roger and Jean Dodds Briney. He married Johnna Gutekunst in 2005, having been a couple since 1992. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Astoria; one sister, Barb Abernathey of Brownsville, Ore.; his stepmother, Mary Briney of Phoenix, Ariz.; one stepsister, Karen (and John) May of Hilliand, Fla., and one stepbrother, Andy (and Donna) Collins of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Bruce Briney; and one grandmother, Helen Dodds.

He attended Rushville High School, graduating in 1972.

He was semi-retired; taking time to only work on projects he “wanted” to, with an enthusiasm for working on diesels, a job at which he was known to be very skilled. He had a preference for working on Duramax engines. He was a business owner, and contractor for AECI. He also worked at McCallister’s in Cairo, Mo.; Altorfer and EA Martin. Prior to these jobs, he worked at Nemo Coal and coal mines in Illinois. He also had experience working on gold mines in Nevada.

At Bob’s request, no services will be held.
