She was born Oct. 7, 1926, in Chicago, a daughter of James H. and Mabel E. Strong Dean. She married James Ivan Busby on Sept. 6, 1947, in Rushville. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1986.
She also was preceded in death by three children, James Busby, Michael Busby and Shirley Joan Ward; and one sister, Jane Wells Hester.
Surviving are four grandchildren, Lynn Stover of Rushville, Beth Read (and fiancé Aaron Marshall) of Franklin, Sara (and Chris) Tubbs of Pevely, Mo., and Ross Busby (and companion Jessica) of Barnhart, Mo.; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She and her husband “Moon” were lifelong farmers.
She graduated from Graham School of Nursing in Canton. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital and for Dr. Russell R. Dohner before retiring.
She was a member of Rushville First United Methodist Church, Schuyler American Legion Auxiliary Unit #4 and Rushville State Bank Premiere Club.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Debbie Hester officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
