John Brillhart

John BrillhartJohn Michael Brillhart, 44, of Springfield died Nov. 6, 2017, in Bloomington.

He was born Nov. 17, 1972, in Springfield, a son of Cline and Carol Price Brillhart, who were former residents of Vermont. He married Sarah Hrenko on June 17, 2000, in Springfield. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Cora and Sadie Brillhart of Springfield; his parents of Springfield; three brothers, Tim Brillhart and Mark Brillhart, both of Springfield, and Jeff (and Connie) Brillhart of Savoy; one sister, Kelly (Marty Ryan) Brillhart of Fishers, Ind.; and six nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and one cousin, Cindy Welker.

He graduated from the University of Illinois at Springfield in 2002 and was a member services representative with Teachers Retirement System. He was a self-taught musician who took an interest in music while in college. He was a singer, songwriter and guitarist in Springfield for more than 20 years and was very active in the Springfield music scene, both helping with and playing at the various downtown music festivals. He was currently hosting the Tuesday open mic nights at George Ranks.

A memorial gathering was held Friday, Nov. 10, at Bisch Funeral Home West in Springfield.
