Barbara BartlettBarbara Jeanne Bartlett, 87, of Rushville died at 10:35 p.m. Aug. 19, 2016, at Rushville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born April 8, 1929, in Northbrook, a daughter of Vernon E. and Hildreth Ashwood Barnes. She married Ansel Ross Bartlett on May 14, 1949, in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2014.

She also was preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn Stephens; and one brother, Byron A. Barnes.

Surviving are four sons, Ronald Barnes (and Marsha) Bartlett, Rodrick Alan Bartlett and Robert Bruce (and Crystal) Bartlett, all of Rushville, and Randall Earnest Bartlett of Appleton, Wis.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Rushville High School in 1947 and MacMurray College in Jacksonville with a BA degree, majoring in art and English. After graduation, she was a substitute art teacher in Rushville High School for several years. Jeanne and Ansel moved to the family farm in 1950 where they farmed and raised four boys.

She was a member of Rushville First United Methodist Church serving on the Board of Directors, Finance Committee, Women’s Society and a former Sunday school teacher and Bible school art director. She also was active in the Rushville Federation of Women, Chapter AL, PEO, Jayetts and served as past president of each of these organizations. She also was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers for Meals on Wheels.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at her church with Rev. Grant Armstrong and Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home of Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
