Ansel BartlettAnsel Ross Bartlett, 91, of Rushville died at 12:10 a.m. July 27, 2014, at Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

He was born Dec. 22, 1922, in Buena Vista Twp., Schuyler County, the son of Ernest C. and Mary Ross Bartlett. He married Barbara Jeanne Barnes on May 14, 1949, in Hillsboro. She survives.

Also surviving are: four sons, Ronald (and Marsha) Bartlett, Roderick Bartlett, and Robert (and Crystal) Bartlett, all of Rushville, and Randall Bartlett of Angleton, Texas; two sisters, his twin, Anne Ross Bauer of Harvey, La., and Beatrice Hall of Rushville; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He attended Hale Ridge School and graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1940.

He was a life-long Schuyler County farmer.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Rushville Lodge #9 A.F. & A.M., Lusk Chapter Royal Arch Masons, Rushville Commandery #56 Knights Templers, 22 Club of Schuyler County and coached Little League for over 20 years. He sang in the church choir, the Schuyler Singers and at many special events. He was a former member of Board of Directors of Schuyler State Bank. He served as a Democratic Precinct Committeeman for many years. In 1980, he was elected Rushville Township Supervisor.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rushville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Grant Armstrong and Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Masonic services to be held at the conclusion of the visitation.

Memorials may be made to Hughes Cemetery or Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
