MILDRED M. (MILLER) BROWN

Mildred Brown

Mildred M. Brown, 91, of Normal, formerly of Vermont, died at 11 a.m. July 28, 2014, at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.

She was born Sept. 20, 1922, in Vermont, a daughter of Sherman and Lulu Kimmel Miller. She married Vernal C. Brown on April 27, 1943, in Dallas, Texas. He preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 2010.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Rebecca Stauffer and Melba Jean Beaver.

Surviving are one son, Reginald (and Eloise) Brown of Bloomington; one daughter, Joyce Brown of San Antonio, Texas; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was manager of The Bridal Shop in Macomb and managed a fabric shop in Adair.

She was a member of Vermont Christian Church where she was a Deaconess and taught Sunday school for 10 years. She also was a member of Vermont American Legion Post #26 Auxiliary and a 4-H leader for nine years.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at Vermont Christian Church with Pastor Dave Vandeman officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Vermont Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
