Kathleen "Katie" BaugherKathleen (Katie) Roberta Lovell Baugher, 94, of Macomb died at 7:30 a.m. Feb. 11, 2014, at The Elms Nursing Home in Macomb.

She was born Dec. 22, 1919, in Keokuk, Iowa, a daughter of Edward and Bertha Prouse Lovell. She married Chester Baugher on May 6, 1946. He preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 2013.

She also was preceded in death by one sister; two brothers; and one grandson, Christopher I. Smith (2001).

Surviving are one daughter, Deborah K. (Baugher) Smith of Macomb; and one son, Randy A. (and Betty) Baugher of River Falls, Wis.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

During World War II, she worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant measuring the powder for the detonator caps.

When first coming to Peoria, she worked as a waitress at Pierre Marquette. She became a full-time mother after the birth of her daughter, and during this time, she was a foster parent for infants awaiting adoption. Moving to Wee-ma-tuk, she worked along side her husband in the kitchen, and then moved back to Peoria and worked at Jumer’s, Creve Coeur Club and Country Club of Peoria. After she retired, she moved to Macomb with her husband.

She was a member of First Christian Church.

Services were held Saturday at First Christian Church (DOC) of Macomb with Reverend Kelly Ingersoll officiating. Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb was in charge of arrangements.
