Doris BedenbenderDoris Bedenbender, 88, of Rushville died at 12:05 p.m. Oct. 17, 2013, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

She was born April 26, 1925, in Brown County, a daughter of George B. and Rebecca Armel McClelland. She married James R. “Bob” Bedenbender on March 15, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 2001.

She also was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Jordan Wenger; two sisters, Mildred and Patricia McClelland; and one brother, Donald McClelland.

Surviving are two sons, George (and Bonnie) Bedenbender of Rushville and Ralph (and Tonja) Bedenbender of Maywood, Mo.; four daughters, V. Elaine (and Norman) Downs of St. Peters, Mo., Betty Wenger-Sargent, Norma (and John) Herbster and Sharon (and Don) Goldsborough, all of Rushville; two brothers, Edward (and Jenille) McClelland of Mount Vernon, Mo., and Gerald (and Carole) McClelland of Rushville; one sister, Betsy (and Tom) Bridgewater of Liberty; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She first started her career with Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville as an aide and retired in 1980 as a ward clerk.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rushville, Schuyler American Legion Auxiliary #4, Women of the Moose and Schuyler Home Extension. She was past president of Schuyler Republican Ladies.

Services were held Monday at her church with Reverend Steve Pichaske and Craig Bedenbender officiating. Burial was in Palm Cemetery, west of Rushville. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
