Harriet BoehmHarriet Aileen Boehm of Macomb, formerly of Rushville, died at 10:11 a.m. May 27, 2012, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born July 23, 1917, a daughter of Timothy and Bess Hall Moore and raised on the family farm in Schuyler County. She married Edward Henry Boehm on Dec. 24, 1936. He preceded her in death.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, Vail Hall Moore; and one sister, Helen Louise (Moore) Johnson.

Surviving are four children, Edward Allan (and Linda) Boehm of Champaign, Gordon (and Candace) Boehm of Danville, Cynthia (and Ron) Ward of Macomb and Stanley Boehm of Peoria; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She attended grade school at a one-room country school located three-fourths of a mile from her home.

She attended Rushville High School, graduating in 1934.

During the early years of her marriage, she worked various clerical and bookkeeping jobs in Rushville and Schuyler County, while her husband joined the family grocery store, Boehm and Sons Food Market in Rushville. Her work soon shifted home, where she was busy raising their four children.

After her husband's unexpected death in 1967, she remained active, volunteering time to local organizations, including United Methodist Church, driving people to doctor appointments in Springfield, Quincy, Macomb and Jacksonville and organizing class reunions. She co-founded the Rushville chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, and was active in Business and Professional Women's Club.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Rushville with Reverend Steve Pichaske officiating. A luncheon and time of sharing will be held in the church fellowship hall following the services. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
