Francis Blaine BollingerFrancis Blaine Bollinger, 90, of Astoria died at 1 p.m. April 30, 2009, at Astoria Gardens & Rehab Center.

He was born Sept. 7, 1918, in Browning Township, Schuyler County, a son of Aaron and Elizabeth Switzer Bollinger. He married Helen Louise McWhorter on Oct. 22, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo. She preceded him in death on Oct. 29, 1972.

He also was preceded in death by three sisters, Irma Burgard, Ruth Hulett and Orpha Taylor; and two brothers, Luther Bollinger and Herschel Bollinger.

Surviving are two sons, Leroy (and Nancy) Bollinger of Rushville and Danny Bollinger of Vermont; one daughter, Judy (and Michael) Kling of Astoria; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was a United States Army veteran from 1942-1945, serving as a Tec 5 in Europe.

He worked as a farmer and a laborer.

He was a member of Astoria American Legion Post #25, Astoria Christian Church and a former member of Astoria Masonic Lodge #116 AF & AM.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Gary Sheets officiating. Burial was held in Astoria Cemetery.
