Roy Bennett

Roy D. Bennett, 66, of Canton died at 6:30 a.m. July 5, 2008, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Feb. 18, 1942, in Waterford Township, Fulton County, a son of Henry Albert and Francis Irene Ames Bennett.

Surviving are four sons, Terry (and Kimberly) Bennett of Havana, Doug (and Kandy) Bennett of Oklahoma, Roy Henry “Hank” (and Dara) Bennett of Adair and Jeffrey Bennett of Canton; two daughters, Tammy Bennett of Macomb and Jody Shaw of St. David; two sisters, Ruby Karmenzind of Bartonville and Alberta Burgett of Canton; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and five step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Ralph; and one sister, Velma “Bonnie” Hadsall.

He was retired from International Harvester Company as a bulldozer operator. He was owner and operator of Roy D. Bennett and Sons Bulldozing.

He was a member of Canton Community Faith Church.

Services were held Tuesday at Waterford Church of God in rural Lewistown. Burial was in Waterford Cemetery. Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton was in charge of arrangements.
