Lyle BakerLyle E. Baker, 85, of Rushville died at 2:25 p.m. March 8, 2008, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 31, 1922, in Rushville, a son of Earl and Edith Settles Baker. He married Helen Virginia Orr on Nov. 20, 1944, in St. Charles, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Allen (and Barb) Baker of Camden, David E. (and Carol) Baker of Good Hope, Larry Baker of Rushville and Marvin L. (and Jean) Baker of Bowen; two daughters, Karen (and Dick) Libby of Streator and Carol (and Marty) Trinkle of Rushville; one brother, Wayne Baker of Columbia; three sisters, Vera Raming of Downers Grove, Irene Green of Channahon and Evelyn (and Lewis) Cleghorn of Elgin; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Herman Baker; four sisters, Ruth, Hildreth and Nellie Baker and Martha Woodruff.

He was a lifelong carpenter, helping build 45 houses in Rushville before joining Carpenters Local #183 in Peoria. After retiring, he drove a bus for Schuyler School District #1 in Rushville.

Services were held Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Gary Schluckebier officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
