James E. Brooks, 64, of Havana died at 4:15 a.m. Jan. 2, 2007, at Mason District Hospital in Havana.

He was born Oct. 9, 1942, in rural Avon, a son of James J. and Audrey L. Ford Brooks.

Surviving are two sons, Douglas of West Peoria and Brock of Havana; one daughter, Tracy (and David) Trimpe of Lewistown; two sisters, Carolyn Brooks of Loraine and Patricia (and Donald) Brooks of Cuba; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Terri Jo; and one brother, Glenn.

He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the Air Force.

He was a farmer and worked at Stelter-Hofreiter Inc. in Havana before retiring in 2004.

Services were held Friday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rev. Warren Hughes officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown, with military rites conducted by Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and American Legion Bishop Post 1.
