Lee Butler

Lee Butler, 82, of Lewistown, died at 11:10 a.m. Friday, June 10, 1995, at Pekin Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 31, 1913 at rural Lewistown, a son of Ward C. and Edith E. Cozine Butler. He married Frances Kingery at Lewistown on May 4, 1940. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, David Butler of Lewistown; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Mina) Havens of Lewistown; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Mr. Butler was still an active farmer and cattleman at his rural Summum farm. He had also worked as cement contractor and cement finisher for 50 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Lewistown United Methodist Church, Plasterer’s and Cement Finisher’s Local #12 in Peoria, from which he received a Gold Membership Card at his retirement. He was a member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau, and the Lewistown Community High School Alumni Association. He had previously served as a Lewistown City Alderman for several years. He was a member of the Illinois Municipal League.

Funeral services were held Monday at Henry Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rev. John Simms officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Lewistown.
