VeteranIrvin L. Brown Of Canton Dies

Irvin L. “Brownie” Brown, 70, of 428 W. Chestnut St., Canton, died at 8:55 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 1990, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born Sept. 17, 1919, in Vermont, a son of Clyde and Anna Belle Leighty Brown. He married Maryelen Bump on Aug. 15, 1953, in Hanna City. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Roger (Nancy) Swartzbaugh of Springfield, and one sister, Mrs. Vernon (Winnie) Savill of rural Canton.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

He retired from Coleman Pontiac Buick GMC in Canton in 1988. He worked for Art & Gene’s Olds in Canton. He also drove a school bus for Unit District 66 in Canton for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post 16 in Canton and AARP. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. this afternoon at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton with Rev. Barbara Short officiating. Burial will be in Fiatt Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Fulton County Unit.
