Marvel Batterton, 91, of the Macomb Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, a former Ipava resident, died at 2:40 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 1990, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
She was born Sept. 12, 1898, in Astoria, a daughter of Charles and Sylvia (Camp) Brainard. She married Arley L. Batterton Feb. 7, 1917 at Havana. He died Dec. 12, 1984.
Surviving are one son, Virgil Batterton of Galesburg; one daughter, Evelyn Thomas of Table Grove; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great, great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosie Baugh of St. Louis, Mo.; and one brother, Eldon Brainard of Medford, Ore.
She was preceded in death by two sons, two grandsons, one great-grandson, three sisters, and one brother.
She was a member of the Berean Christian Church of Ipava and a former member and past president of the Macomb Nursing and Rehabilitation Center resident council.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery.
