VeteranBill Barnett Of Rushville Dies

Bill Barnett, 63, of Little Turtle Lake near Rushville, formerly of rural Browning, died at his home at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, 1985.

He was born on Jan. 9, 1922, in Peoria, the son of James C. and Sophia Rheim Barnett. He was married to June Humphrey on Feb. 8, 1946, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are four brothers, Harry and James Barnett of Peoria, Walter Barnett of Clearwater, Fla., and Clayburn Barnett of Glasford; three sisters, Mrs. Margurete Burmingham of Peoria, Mrs. Edna Eburst of Greenville, Ohio, and Mrs. Ellen Kneer of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, William Robert Jr. in 1973, one sister and two brothers.

Mr. Barnett served in the armed forces during World War II in the 82nd Airborne Div., worked for many years for the Peabody Coal Company near Rushville and was a member of Local Union 1211.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Sager-Northcutt Funeral Home in Beardstown with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in the Browning Cemetery.
