Harry A. Bucher Of Canton Dies

Harry A. Bucher, 69, of 235 S. Avenue F, Canton, died Tuesday, June 29, in the Methodist Hospital in Peoria.

He was a member of the Church of the Brethren and served on the local board and the district board of Illinois and Wisconsin of the church. He was also a member of the Cheerful Climbers Class of the church, the Canton Rotary Club, and the Canton Country Club. He was a former county manager for Illinois Farm Supply Co., retiring in 1961.

He was born Nov. 24, 1901, in Astoria, the son of Rev. Samuel and Mary Elgin Bucher. He married Ethel David on Dec. 22, 1922. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Rev. Gordon Bucher of Hartville, Ohio; one daughter, Mrs. Bettylou Early of Mesa, Ariz.; two foster daughters, Mrs. Blanca Hooper of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Maria Driskell of Tinley Park; two brothers, Elgin Bucher of Rockford and Ralph Bucher of Bradford; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Becker of Nampa, Idaho and Mrs. Fern Ketcham of Canton; and five grandchildren. One brother and two sisters died earlier.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Harry Bucher Fund of the Church of the Brethren.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Church of the Brethren in Canton with Rev. Horace Huse officiating. Burial was in the Coal Creek Dunkard Cemetery.
