Rachael Billingsley, Lifetime Resident Dies This Morning

Mrs. Rachael Billingsley, 93, lifetime Astoria area resident, died about 1:00 o’clock this morning in the Mason District Hospital in Havana, following a brief illness.

She was born near Astoria on Jan. 29, 1867, the daughter of Jackson and Nancy Gruell Brown.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Golda Ashwood of Vermont; two sons, Seth Billingsley of Phoenix, Ariz., and Lester K. of Birmingham, Mich. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, one of whom is Mrs. Zelda Goode of Astoria, that Mrs. Billingsley raised; 33 great-grandchildren and 3 great, great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by four children, eight sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with the Rev. S. F. Hicke officiating. Burial will be in the Astoria cemetery.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday at the Shawgo Memorial Home.
