Funeral Services Held Sunday For J. D. Baumgartner

James Dwight Baumgartner, son of Elias F. and Effie McNeil Baumgartner, was born in Kerton township, Fulton county, Illinois, Dec. 28, 1892, and departed this life, March 4, 1930 at the Graham hospital, Canton, aged 37 years, 2 mo. and 6 days.

He was of a family of ten children, five of whom are deceased. They are: Mrs. J. A. Atwater, Ida Mae Omer and Frankie. Those surviving are: Mrs. Frank Edlin of Miami Shores, Florida; LeRoy of San Francisco, Calif.; Bernard of Rock Island; Floyd of Peoria and Mrs. Ottie Valentine of Enion. The mother died in 1900 and the father died in 1926.

At the age of thirteen he was given a home with Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Markley, where he remained, except what time he attended Gem City business college where he completed an honored course in bookkeeping. He was not a member of any church but was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He was of a quiet and kind disposition and will be sadly missed by relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Christian church, Summum, conducted by Rev. W. H. Day. Burial in Summum cemetery.

Died In Hospital

Dwight Baumgartner died Tuesday morning at 9:50 o’clock in the Graham hospital in Canton, aged 37 years, 2 months and 6 days.

He had been in the hospital four days for treatment.

Mr. Baumgartner was raised by James Markley, with whom he made his home.

As we go to press no arrangements have been made for the funeral.
